Lightroom images are going dark after editing.

Ok.
I have a 2019 MacBook Pro. I9 processor. 32gb ram, 2tb internal, and an updated graphics card.
Running the latest version of LR classic. The issue spans across previous versions as well.
My workflow:
I import images to an external drive (we have 40+tb of external and internal drive space, I prefer to use the ultra fast M.2 drives we have with speed up to 7300😳 extremely fast)
After import, we use culling software, in this case Aftershoot, for culling to get our numbers down to a manageable amount.. aftershoot will also add an xmp file along with each image, giving it a rating based on our previously selected requirements.
I’ll take said catalog from there and import the images into a gallery. Depending on what type of shoot, we have different preset collections (wedding, engagement, etc. )
With smaller collections within I.e. getting ready, ceremony, details, first looks, and so on.
We only use 4 star or higher selected images based on our previously culling software pics.
From there, we have MANY presets we have created for different scenarios, as well as Archipelago presets (we are certified testers for them)
We color grade, then apply presets, then tweak the settings to create our looks. At that point we are making sure our exposures are what we want as well.
The Problem:
After making the adjustments,
SOMETIMES, I will go back to a previous image in a selected group just to make sure my edits match up across any given catalog, say my ceremony images.. just making sure they are consistent.
What happens:
I click on a previously edited image. It will look great for a second, then it turns DARK! As in LR changes the look of my image, and it almost always equates to a 2 stop under exposure!
So say my exposure was bumped +45 by me and that got the look I wanted, then I go on and edit 300 more images, I go back to the previous said image, it will look fine, then something happens and the image goes dark! It will still show a +45! But to get it to look like it had previously looked, I’d now have to change it to +2.45! Now, I’ve been shooting a long time. My exposures are NEVER that far off. If you look at the RAW images, they are all fairly close given the different lighting conditions.
If I don’t touch anything, and export the dark looking image at +45, the resulting export looks great.
If I adjust it to +2.45, obviously the exported image is WAY overexposed.
I can’t figure out why LR is doing this.
Obviously it makes it impossible to edit an image and get a proper exposure with this issue.
It is intermittent. I delivered 3 galleries in the last 2 weeks with no issue. Now it’s starting back up again.
I did just update to the latest version, but went back to the previous version, and it’s still doing it.

As a wild guess, likelihood it is correct <10% ... perhaps during your edits you have turned on Auto-Sync and maybe even neglected to turn it off. Please look at the History Panel. Are there any changes shown there after your original edits?
