Lightroom keeps jumping away from current working folder to new file(s) imported

I previously was working with an older version where this never happened, and have noticed this with the last several versions: Upon import and sync (or exporting a file with import to catalog checked), Lightroom keeps jumping away from the folder I am currently working to the location where new files are being imported.

It does this while I’m trying to do another activity and it is extremely frustrating.

Now in the latest version it even does this while I am in a catalog – it jumps away from the catalog and into the directory that the new file is being imported.

Is there some way to stop this?

This is a preference setting. Go to Preferences - General and uncheck the box 'Select the "Current/Previous Import" collection during import".

Thanks Johan it's an improvement however the filters keep resetting.  When I turn on a meta data filter for example, it immediately resets and turns off when importing the next file.

This is a FAQ and is as designed. If you don't want this, then the solution is simple. Lock the filter by clicking on the small padlock icon in the upper right corner (you need to be in grid view, you can't do this with the filter in the film strip).
