Lightroom last version VERY slow using ai masking and ediitng

Hello im having trouble using lightroom at the point where it's unusable and the workflow becomes very laggy and i can't work like this it drives me crazy.

 

The requirements are there i dont know if im the only one with this but it needs to be fixed somehow

You've got an older graphics card with 4 GB of memory, more than the 2 GB required for People masking. And you've got the latest Studio driver installed.

What in particular is slow? Creating an AI mask? Changing a local-adjustment slider for the mask?  Or changing a global-adjustment slider in the Basic panel?

 

If the issue is with the sliders responding very slowly, try setting Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor to Off. (If the issue is that creating masks is slow, changing this option won't make a difference.)

@Tomala, thanks for posting the screen recording, which illustrates your issue: The local-adjustment sliders for non-AI masks are very sluggish.

 

"DirectX: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (31.0.15.3161)"

 

That's a 6-year-old graphics card with the most recent Studio driver, but it should be plenty powerful enough for everything except Denoise.

 

Try setting Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor to Off. Does that help? If it does, the issue could be with the Nvidia graphics driver -- recent releases have had stability issues.  You could try rolling back to an older Studio driver from 6 to 9 months ago, which some people have reported have helped resolve issues:

If disabling the graphics processor doesn't help, try rollling back to LR 12.2.1.

Yes im having this kind of problem along the ai masking sliders (like in the videoof the other user), remove tool ecc.

And after it starts it stays that slow

Even when i click on the previews in the develop module or to set stars it lags

 

Should i remove photos from the catalog i have around 16000 pics

 

If i can i will provide a screen capture

No, there is no reason to remove photos from your catalog. 16,000 is a relatively few images for a catalog. I have 190,000 in my catalog with no issues.

Alright

I think the only fix is to roll back then but i,will lose the new features like the denoise right? Also does it change performance having LR installed in my D hard drive instead of C ? D is a hdd and clC SSD but have poor archive space

Right, you won't get Denoise in LR 12.2.1.  LR will possibly take longer to start up on the slower drive, but once it's started, its performance will be the same.

1 Graphics Processor to Off - does not help

2 studio drivers 517.40 from 2022.9.20 does not help

3 only rollling back to LR 12.2.1. in my case helped

on the other hand photoshop camera raw 15.3.0.1451 working perfect

What kind of drive is G:?? The Lightroom Classic catalog should be on the very fasted drive in your system. Preferably a fast SSD.

As others have already reported, reverting to 12.2.1 resolved the performance issues they're experiencing with 12.3. Can you revert, even if only temporarily, to 12.2.1 and report whether doing so helped or not.

That set up is very similar to mine, two nvme SSDs mounted on the mother board. I have not any  speed issues at all with LrC V12.3 or previous versions. I did recently upgrade to a RTX 3070TI video card for the speed benefits of DeNoise AI. See my system specs in my signature.

In 12.4 it's just the mask module that's insanely slow for me compared to everything else. Not just when it's detecting but even loading to actually select eg. a simple linear gradient.

@sebmsg, try setting Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor to Off. Then try updating your graphics driver by going directly to the manufacturer's web site:
