Lightroom making photos 0 bytes after converting them to DNG and more problems.

OK i have had this problem for several times now and it is really frustrating.

Firstly, here's my Computer Spec.

Screen Shot 2019-04-14 at 12.09.23 AM.png

I was trying to work on my new photos from an event, which there were about 1500 of them, and I have encountered several problems in the past few days.

1. Import stops at Building Standard Preview after everything got converted to DNG. If I cancel the preview building process, all Photos have a black exclamation mark on the corner saying: "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo. you will not be able to make adjustments to the photo" and the actual picture file became 0 bytes in my harddrive

2. I deleted everything and copied photos from my CF card directly into my harddrive, then adding those to the catalogue, with .NEF format, not convert them to DNG. I only build smart previews and it worked. However, some photos still won't show thumbnails in Library module but i can view and edit them fine in Edit Module. I am cool with this but still annoying.

3. after selected several photos, I labelled them and only converted those to DNG, and they have the same problem in 1, they became 0-byte corrupted files.

4, on top of these, lightroom won't shut down unless i force quit it. But then it wont launch. unless i restart the computer

5. I can't restart the computer regularly, it'll turn to the black screen with a circle loading icon and won't shut down unless I force shut down the computer and restar it.

Please help, this has added so much trouble to my workflow.

Sounds like some sort of file corruption that prevents these NEF files from being properly converted to DNG. I would suspect the camera card or the card reader/USB cable causing some type of corruption. I suppose it could also be a hard disk malfunction. You need to check all of these, and also try importing with different hardware to a different hard disk (which would not rule out a bad camera card)

As above. Try Copying the NEF files to your hard drive from the memory card then import them to LR.

Do they show up with a size bigger than Zero bytes?

they would show up normally when i copy NEFs from memory card to my hardrive.

would go ok when i add them to LR, the problem happens when i either try to convert them to DNG, or they stuck during building a standard preview.

When they converted to DNG, they became 0 bytes files..

This sound like file corruption. That can be caused by faulty card reader, USB cable, USB port, or memory card.

Even though you see the NEF files on your drive what size are they in Mega bytes.
