I have subscribed to Lightroom Plan with 1TB for $23.99/month.
When I looked at the version that was installed on my desktop I noted it was version 8.5 not the latest version 14. Why is this?
It clearly said Lightroom Classic for Desktop, but I got this old version.
Very confused, can anyone sort this out for me.
"Lightroom" is a completely different app than "Lightroom Classic"
The V 8.5 indicates that you have Lightroom. Lightroom Classic is currently at V14.5.1
Check in the Creative Cloud App to see if your subscription includes Lightroom Classic.

Well then, you haven't installed Lightroom Classic or you are starting the wrong app. The icon for Lightroom Classic contains the letters LrC. Take a look in the Creative Cloud App for installed apps. You can start Lightroom Classic from there. If it's not listed as an installed app, then you can install it from the Creative Cloud App.

Also, that screen is only showing the apps in the 1TB plan, it does not mean they are installed yet.

In order for any of the Adobe apps to run and install at all, you have to have the Adobe Creative Cloud open at ALL times.
This is what the Adobe Creative Cloud app screen looks like. You will probably see "Lightroom" in the installed area and Possibly "Lightroom Classic". Below that, you will see the apps you can install under your 1TB Plan.
Go into that app to install Lightroom Classic if it's not showing up as installed.

Try to sign out of the CC desktop app, then sign in again.
This can sometimes fix issues.

Show us a screen capture of what you do see when you open the Adobe Creative Cloud application. Use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply, as you did earlier.

I cannot open your file attachments (or anyone's file attachments) and so you need to click on the "Insert Photos" icon.

Could it be this simple?-
1) Scroll down the page. The apps are not in alphabetical order.
2) Choose [Photo] on the top menu line- you will then only see the Photography apps-
Also note the message to update the Creative Cloud Desktop App.

Are you sure that you have signed in on the Creative Cloud? And that it's with the same user that you used to purchase your subscription?
The screenshots make it seem like you might not be signed in, but as it doesn't show the entirety of the window i of course cannot be sure.

In that first screenshot, notice the popup stating a new version of the Adobe Creative cloud Desktop is available. Have you now updated it?

Ohh, also, in that first screenshot, in the Adobe Creative Clod Desktop. Over on the left, select Home, then over on the right, select manage plan. What plan is reported as subscribed to at the Adobe site?
