Losing Overlays

New Here ,

Why is it that I seem to frequently lose my info overlays in both grid and loupe views in Lightroom Classic? I can only get them back by restarting LR.

Why? I don't think anyone knows.

If your real question is: how can you fix this?  ... other people have reported the same symptoms, I don't know if a solution has been found, buy you should search this forum to see.

Hi @ttriolo13

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear you're running into this issue. To help us troubleshoot better, could you please share a few more details?

  • Which version of Lightroom Classic are you using?

  • What operating system and version are you on (e.g., Windows 11, macOS 14.5)?

  • When the overlays disappear, do any specific actions trigger it (like switching modules or using a keyboard shortcut)?

Let us know — we’ll do our best to get this sorted for you.

Regards,

Srishti

Hello,

I am using Lightroom Classic 14.3.1
I am using Mac Sonoma OS 14.6.1
I do not know what triggers the overlays to disappear. I only notice they
are missing when I need to reference them. Even though the Info Overlay
option is checked in View Options they do not show up either in Loupe or
Grid views.
I have tried to toggle the overlays using the “I” key but nothing happens.
Only by shutting LR off and then on again to they reappear and the “I” does
work at that point. This has been happening for quite a while now.

Hope this helps.

Tony

Hey, @ttriolo13. Thanks for sharing these details. Lightroom Classic v14.5 is available via the Creative Cloud desktop app. If possible, update the macOS on your machine.

Just to be sure, follow the second (manual) method from this article: https://adobe.ly/4fOPxm4 to reset Lightroom Classic's preferences and check if the issue exists.

Thanks!
