Are you talking about Lightroom Classic? You didn't state what software you are using.

 

For Lightroom Classic to work properly, photos must be on an attached disk. And best practices, do not try to work with photos on an SD card, photos should be copied to an internal or external hard disk/SSD, or to a network drive.

Check what Lightroom says about the path. You may have defined the SD card as the destination, so the images weren't copied to the hard disk but to the SD card again.

no, I chose the right hdd, it looks like it won't happen again. it happened several times and I paid attention to the exact procedure

So what does Lightroom say about what the path should be and what is the path in reality? This is not rocket science, but you have to give us more information. 'Lightroom lost the path' is not enough, and "it looks like it won't happen again" does even make less sense. How do you know that?
