LR 7.01 opens the wrong image in Photoshop (latest version)

Explorer ,
Oct 30, 2017 Oct 30, 2017

So updated today and basically when choosing "edit in Photoshop" the image that opens is the one highlighted in the bottom thumbnail view (which is different to the main image displayed on my screen).

The same thing occurs in Grid view when right clicking the image I wish to edit. LR seems to want to open the first image in the folder, not the one I'm right clicking on.

I can open the correct image (to edit in PS) if I right click on it in the thumbnail view at the bottom of the screen.

You are mistaken. You can not select an image in either the Grid View area or the Film Strip area without it carrying over to the other area.

It is impossible to select 2 different images in each view area.

Maybe that's what's supposed to happen, but I can click around the film strip without the main image changing.. so clearly something isn't right.

Hi,

I guess this is related to the same old (still not fixed) bug in the Library module that makes you see images of a given collection or folder while another collection or folder is selected.

Lightroom : Selected Published Folder or Collection is not deselected if a folder is selected | Phot...

The OP isn't talking about collections or Publish Services published folders. They are talking about being able to select 2 different images at the same time, one in the grid view area and a different one in the film strip and not having the other area change to that image.

The only time that can happen is if you hold down the Ctrl key, Windows, or I guess the Command key on a Mac. And If you do that then both images get selected and yes if in the grip view you select the first image, top left hand corner, then scroll across the film strip and select another image with the Ctrl/Command key held down then the grid view does update to the newly, second or third, image you select in the film strip. But all images clicked on are selected.

Go into the preferences and make sure the GPU option isn't checked. That is on the Performance tab of the LR Preferences.

A number of people have reported that the grid and filmstrip get out of sync.  See this bug report: Lightroom Classic: Library Module - grid and strip no longer synchronized | Photoshop Family Custome... . At the end of the bug report is a link to a possible workaround.

Please add your me-too vote and details of your issue to the bug report, which will make it a little more likely Adobe will fix the bug soon. Also include whether the workaround helped you.

Well it all appears to be working again, everything in synch, and yet I've changed nothing.. fingers crossed it isn't intermittent

Unfortunately, others have reported it is intermittent.  You can try the workaround if it comes back too frequently.
