I am using LR 8.1 CC with the latest version of Win 10 on a fast PC. Since the last upgrade the program works exceedingly slow and every time I click on anything, an image, or to change modules, to rename ... anything, the window goes white and the spinning wheel of death appears for 30 seconds to a minute. It then clears up and I can continue. However, when selecting several images, after about the third it hangs again (even after having cleared the first time).
Finally, I am using the latest version of Photoshop CC on the same PC without experiencing this problem.
I am using LR 7.4 CC on a Mac and do not experience this problem.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions other than turning off face recognition?
Thank you.

In LR preferences, File Handeling tab, what do you have for Camera RAW CACHE settings? Take a screenshot and post in reply.

In LR, upper left corner, the ID plate area, expand to show status of Face Re ognization, and Address Lookup, and antsy other odd bit running, take a screenshot, post in reply.

Dropdown menu disappears when the Snipping Tool is enabled. Both address and Face Recognition are paused.
One thing to point out, I have been using subscription-based LR Classic on this computer for about two years. I have changed no settings on the computer, monitor, etc. within that time. This problem just began about a month ago and has gotten progressively worse.

Manged to foul up what I was posting (a followup) oh well
As for resolution
On my Rig I am running, well following from LR system Information:
DirectX: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti (25.21.14.1694)
and thats connected to a LG 31MU97 monitor capable of 4096x2160
but I do not run it that high. in fact currently at 1080P (1920x1080)
and my catalog setting for standard preview is Auto(1920px)
It does not bother me one bit that I am not running that monitor or that GPU at it max.
And I am not having issues, mind you this is not the only road block that can get in lightrooms way. But one that gets overlooked outside of users with IMac 5K Retina displays
