LR Classic, Data not sticking in selected field when posting to multiple images

I have a recent problem......

After highlighting multiple images in LR Classic, data entered into an IPTC field, or a title field  is  not populating the selected  field after hitting Enter and the usual dropdown which requires confirmation to apply the data to the selectied images is not appearing. Advice appreciated.

LR version 12.2.1

Mac OS Ventura 13.2.1

In the Metadata panel, are you selecting Target Photo, or Selected Photos?

Hi,

It seems that the system reverted to Target Photo without my noticing it so I changed it back to Selected Photos. Again, thank you.
