I noticed in one of my folders that the few video files that were in there would not play. Their thumbnails in grid view were gray as if they had no preview, and the icon just spins and spins when i hover over it waiting for a preview to load. files wont play either. i removed them from the catalog and then tried to synchronize the folder and I got this error message saying an "unknown error has occurred"

one more thing, I checked the files on the hard drive. They are fine, not corrupted. They play in quicktime without issue. I can also import them into premiere and play normally there as well. There is something going on with Lightroom.

wow, there are major issues right now. UGH.
So, i imported a catalog that held all of 2019s images/videos into a master catalog that has multiple years in it. that master catalog has been working perfectly fine until now. after imported the 2019 catalog into the master catalog, this issue now has popped up. i went back into the 2019 catalog, and all the videos play their fine. there is also other very suspicious things going on in the master catalog now. I have spent HOURS all day doing this, and now this. LR has been bugging out on me HARDCORE all day. I am at my wits end at this point.

ok i had a snickers. I rebooted my computer, and opened the catalog again. initially, all video files had no previews. it took a while, but LR seemed to just decide to dump them all and regenerate new previews for all the video files. no clue what that was all about, but somehow, someway, the reboot fixed it. leaving this thread up as a testament to my insanity.

I am not able to display any video produced by Android or Iphone in my Lightroom Classic version 12.1 under MacOS Monterey 12.7.2
I cannot import any new video either.
Should I upgrade to version 13 of Lightroom ?
I cannot move my MacOS version since my iMac is from 2016
Thanks for the help
