LRC auto read XMP (when available)?

Hey experts!
My question is: Does LRC automatically read the xmp edit information in import (when the xmp is available)?
Are there situations/ scenarios when it won't behave like that?
I tested it, and it does apply the edits automatically, though I want to have 100% assurance that this is the default behavior and nothing can change it.

I couldn't find the answer to this online, and I am always getting amazing responses here 🙂
I appreciate your help!

LR will automatically read metadata (including Develop edits) from the XMP metadata section. For proprietary raws, the XMP is stored in .xmp sidecars, for non-proprietary raws (including DNGs) it's embedded in the photo file itself.  There are obscure exceptions to this general rule, including:

- If you edit the photo with an app that doesn't fully comply with the standards, some metadata fields in the sidecar might be ignored in favor of fields in the photo file.

- If a DNG has a .xmp sidecar, LR will read the sidecar (but not write it).

- Some proprietary raws (e.g. Nikon NEFs) can contain XMP metadata with default Develop settings, which will be read in addition to the .xmp sidecars.
