Dear Adobe Team

Wir the latest update to LrC v14.0.1 n(windows 11)  the masking function is not working any more for any photo where i did not yet apply masks in the previous version. with the new version neiter persons, motivs nor background is recognised in the masking (seems to be working and then disapears). With this function missing from Lightroom the the value of your solution is down to a picture viewer.  Please fix the problem currently you are charging money while not delivering the agreed service - this cannot be in the interst of Adobe.

By the way as your required an update of the catalog for this version it is also not possible to roll back to an older functiong version.

Sounds like you need to check for updates of your GPU drivers.

Dear Johan

Thank you very much for the tip. After updating my GPU driver, uninstalling LrC and reinstalling it the problem seems to be solved. Thank you

@PGE74: "with the new version neither persons, [subjects] nor background is recognised in the masking (seems to be working and then disapears)."

Ensuring your graphics driver is up-to-date, as already recommended above, is always a good first step:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html#solution-4

But your very short description of the symptoms suggests another possibility. When you say that masking "seems to be working then disappears", does that mean that in Develop, you apply a mask, adjust its settings (e.g. Exposure), work on another photo in Develop, and then you come back to the original photo, the mask with its settings no longer appears in the rendered photo?

If that's the case, then with photos on which masks have disappeared, do you see a red dot under the Masking button?

If so, do the menu command Settings > Update AI Settings. Does the red dot go away and the mask and its setting now appear in the rendered photo?

If so, we can give advice on how to stop that from happening in the future.
