" Trying to get it back...did not work. "

What - exactly - did this involve?

"Get it back" from/to where?

After the upgrade of LrC 12.4 to 12.5 on Win10 22H2, the LrC icon disappeared from my desktop as well. Very annoying!

I could restore the link manually by opening the start menu, right-clicking on Adobe Lightroom Classic, then More.., then open containing folder. There I tried to create a link to the executable, and Windows refused, but asked me whether it should be placed on the desktop. Just what I wanted, it even was placed in the original position.

Anyway, this looks like a minor, but still very annoying bug in the Adobe Updater software.

My experience has always been this-

When I upgrade all Apps (as I just did), only Lightroom (Cloud based) creates a 'Shortcut' icon on my Windows-11 Desktop:

However all the upgraded versions of apps work from the Start Menu icons:

If I want a [LrC] icon on my Desktop, I have to obtain a Shortcut for the Desktop by a [RIght-click] on the Start Menu icon and [open file location], where I find a Shortcut already exists (Mine dated 20/8/2023) that I can Copy&Paste to the Desktop:
