Mask overlay not show up in latest version 14.1.1

I upgraded to  LRC 14.1.1 and after I make 1 or 2 or masks (not specific to selecting subject or sky or background) the mask overlay will not show up and the Overlay check box does not allow you to turn it on.  The check mark disappears as soon as you click the box.

It comes back if I restart lightroom but it comes back again after creating a few masks.

Anyone have this same issue or have a solution?

Something in the back of my head makes me thing their was a bug with LrC and MACOS involving the Mask panel and Full screen mode. Change to full screen, and if you see that mask panel, drag it to in the right side panels. Then revert from full screen, and see if you can drag the mask panel to where you want it.
