Moving quickly from Library to Dev module

If an image is displayed in the Lib module, some shorcuts lead to the Dev module and some do not.

For instance, starting from the Lib module in Loop view: Shift-V directly leads to the Dev module and open the masks panel, but as we press Y to compare the before-after photo nothing happens (manually going to the Dev module is needed).

I find this behaviour rather inconsistent.

I am not sure you have the correct Keyboard shortcuts. (Unless you are using another language.)

[D] goes directly to Develop module from Library or Loupe view.

[SHIFT + W] goes directly to Develop module with Mask Panel open.

[E] opens image in Loupe view

[G] opens the Library in Grid view.

I can only find [Shift + V] in shortcuts to 'Paste settings' (eg. [CTRL+SHIFT+V] )

Keyboard Shortcuts | The Lightroom Queen

[CTRL + / ] is my favourite KB shortcut.

[Y] is only available in the Develop Module. (Before/After)

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 14.5.1, Photoshop 26.10, ACR 17.5, Lightroom 8.5, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 15.1.1 .

Your shortcuts do sound a little different, which language is it?

Even in US English, the shortcuts have always been inconsistent across modules from the beginning. Some shortcuts work in all modules, others work in some modules.

Some of this is a known, intentional tradeoff, because if certain shortcuts were made to be the same in all modules, we would have fewer shortcuts. For example, if pressing the S key was forced to always toggle Soft Proof in the Develop Module, then you would have to lose the S shortcut for Expand/Collapse Stack in the Library module.

There are some ways Adobe could address this. For example, the pool of available shortcuts could be expanded (Adobe After Effects allows two-character shortcuts such as typing “uu”), or they could offer multiple keyboard sets and let you customize the shortcuts however you like, as you can in other Adobe applications such as Photoshop and Bridge. On the Ideas page for Lightroom Classic, you can see that Allow for Keyboard Shortcut Customization is currently the #5 top user voted request, although the internal Adobe ranking for what to do next is probably different due to other factors and priorities.

My software language is french, I should have clarified that.

I understand your point and acknowlege that the shortcuts are so numerous that it is dificult to add a kb customization feature in LRC.

Nonetheless, when a shortcut is only avalaible in the Dev module, it would be fine to go automatically to this module without having to select it ("D"), i.e. "Y" for the before/after comparison (in french and english keyboard at least).
