My LR Cat files backups

Hi,

I looked at them today with the idea of deleting some of them.

What I found, per screenshot, is only the first backup has a zip file appended to it, even when I click on them.

Not sure what the zip file is about, what that means or why, or what to do next.

My zip file is 22.5 MB - a far cry from 4 GB.

Hi Raphael,

I'm not an expert at working with zip files in Mac OS, but I've noticed I sometimes have trouble with compressed zip files in Finder. Sometimes, after double clicking, instead of opening, they just produce another zip file. A 3rd party tool could help in extracting them.

At the end of the day, whether you have .lrcat.zip or just .lrcat, you can still follow the same housekeeping routing of keeping fewer old files in your archives - as long as you've verified that you can uncompress the ones you keep.

I found the answer: the zip file that appears is related to whichever backup on whichever date you click on. The window only displays one, but its content changes according to the file selected.

Bizarre.
