Hello everyone,
I would love to start using this great new masking feature, but it is not available on my current Lightroom Classic version. I just learned that 11 is the current version of Lightroom Classic, and I have 9.3.
Interesting is I cannot do the update... In my Creative Cloud App it is stated that my Lightroom version is "updated" (I manually checked for the available updates, and there was no for LR, but other applications could be successfully updated, ex. Photoshop).
In the preferences of Creative Cloud App there is NO option to set the automatic updates.
When I go to Lightroom -> Help -> Updates, it is says that the updates are turned off for this this device and I should contact my administrator. I read this article https://helpx.adobe.com/in/enterprise/kb/contact-administrator.html but cannot find any information on the administrator.
I also found this post in the forum and checked if the clean up of old files from previous installations will help but no success 😞
Anyone would be able to help?
TIA!
Paulina
Questions that may help an answer-
What is your Operating System Version Number? Is v11 compatible with your system?
! Lightroom-CLASSIC System requirements
What Version of the Creative Cloud Desktop App do you have?
In File/Preferences -Is it up-to-date?
And then on the Apps page- Set Apps to auto-update.
Deleting this folder worked!
Thank you so much 🙂 New version of Lightroom Classic is being downloaded.
Thanks to everyone who provided support!

So if I understand you correctly you CAN install the latest Photoshop ( version 23.1.0) but not Lightroom classic (V11.1)?
If that is the case, then your computer system should be compatible.
Still pelase do list your OS and computer for reference.
If you pay for the Creative Cloud, then you should be able to install the latest as long as your computer is compatible.
You might try Uninstalling Lightroom using the uninstall with preferences - just make sure you have a back up of your LR catalog!!! and a back up of your preferences)
THen restart the computer, go to the Creative CLoud app and try installing Lightroom 11.1

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

And just another thought- (You being "New Here" ) Are you updating Lightroom-CLASSIC in the Creative Cloud Desktop App?
You may need to scroll down if you only see "Lightroom".

Uninstall the Creative Cloud app and reinstall it, then try again. Sometimes this can help when updates aren't seen.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
I work on MacBook Pro (late 2013), Big Sur 11.5.2.
Yes, I was trying to update Lightroom Classic, not Lightroom.
And yes, I could install the latest Photoshop (version 23.1, did the update yesterday) but not Lightroom classic (V11.1).
My Creative Cloud version is 5.6.0.788.2. In the Preferences, the box "always keep Creative Cloud up to date" is selected, BUT I don't see the option to do the auto update in Apps page (there is only an information about Instalation (Instalation location and the language of instalation) and settings ("show older applications").
What is confusing me - I see the name Creative Cloud, and not Creative Cloud Desktop app, are those two different things? (apology for the basic question :)). I went to Creative Cloud website and proceed with all the steps to download Creative Cloud Desktop app, but the installation only brings me back to my Creative Cloud version I already had.
Here is the system info pasted directly from LrC, as GoldingD has suggested:

SeanMcCormack, you suggested to uninstall Creative Cloud app. When I try to do this I get the notification that it was not successful because "on my computer there are applications running that need this app to keep working". Shall I just put the app icon to the bin and instal it again?
If this doesn't work I might try to uninstall Ligtroom...

You don't actually need Creative Cloud running to use Adobe apps. It's for app management, even though it will say it needs to be running if you go to quit. The uninstaller should remove it. Binning won't work properly because there are other files tied to it that need to go as well.
If not there is a nuclear option: The Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. Try Golding's steps first though.

Ok, some clarity, and some actions to take.
First up Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App, or Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop, or Creative Cloud App. All the same, Adobe and members use these terms a bit interchangeably.
On my MAC some screenshots
First up, the App in question is normally docked on a MAC as seen in the following:
When you bring that up you see:
As to current version, click on Creative Cloud (circled) thane About Creative Cloud, and you will see that in my case, it is Version 5.6.0.788.2
NOw as to checking for updates/upgrades, if that is not already shown. Over on the right, select Updates (Circled), And this screen shows. In my case I do already have Lightroom Classic v11.1
If you do not have the latest version, and the latest version is not shown as an update/upgrade, then up near top/right, click on Check for Updates
Note (per Rikk Flohr: Photography😞
You may need to refresh the Creative Cloud App for desktop software to show an update available. ([Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+ [ R ])
Note 2:
You might need to sign out of the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App, then sign back in, this if WAN issues are occuring.

Hello,
Maybe I should also provide some screenshots here. First of all, sorry that everything is in Polish (the language selected for the app is English from the beginning, but still everything is in Polish...)
As you can see below, looking for the LrC update, I only see that my current version (9.3) is "actual/up to date".
As I mentioned before, Photoshop update was available (and I did the update without any problems 2 days ago). It is only LrC that has no update available.
Going for top right "Check for updates" also do not show me any available LrC update:
In between I reset the Creative Cloud app few times, I log out/log in again, but this haven't changed anything...
I also tried to Uninstall the app , but it doesn't allow me to do it at all (it says it cannot be done cause the App is used for running different applications --> I cannot proceed with it at all).
My version of Creative Cloud app seems up to date: 5.6.0.788.2
Do you think the only thing left to do is to try Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool?
One more thing to add: I already mentioned that if I go in LrC to Help -> Updates, it says that the updates are blocked for this computer, and I should contact the administrator (cannot find the info on administrator). Do you think this can be the reason?

Is your computer managed by your company or university??
Also, this is a long thread, maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen if you tried this: sign out of the Creative Cloud app and then sign back in. If you haven't tried this, please give it a try, it has always worked for me.

Thank you - but I tried it many times, nothing happens. Still no update available 😞
My Mac is for my private use, it is not managed by any company or university....
