P: Collapse Folder Hierarchy

Explorer ,
Apr 10, 2024 Apr 10, 2024

Would it be possible to have a function to collapse all the folder hierarchies in Lightroom Classic.

Its time consuming to navigate all open folders, so having the ability to collapse to 1,2 or 3 levels of hierarchy would be extremely useful. Same goes for Collections and Presets......

Opt-Click (Mac, Alt-Click on Windows) on any parent folder will collapse the complete folder structure below that parent folder. Repeating it will then expand every part of that folder structure.

Just a note about that Option key modifier shortcut, it isn’t just about Lightroom Classic. Option is a standard expand/collapse modifier key that macOS has used for many years, so many applications pick it up. You can use it to expand/collapse hierarchies in List view in a macOS Finder window, and in hierarchical property lists in many Mac apps such as Adobe After Effects. So now that you know that modifier key tip, you can use it in lots of places.

Non-intuitive how this works.

a) If the folder is expanded, Opt-Click will close that folder to a single entry.  Clicking again will expand just the first level under that folder.

b) If the folder is collapsed, Opt-click will again close that folder to a single entry.  Clicking again, will expand the entire folder structure.

Weird...
