With the new update, when using  Select Sky or Select Subject, i get an unexpected error message saying something went wrong and the request could not be completed.

With the latest LrD 7.0,  LrClassic 13.0 and ACR 16.0 release, here is some additional workaround that you can try:

 

If you encounter GPU driver issues while using ML features in LrClassic/LrD/ACR, please try to update to the latest macOS version or if you are on a Windows machine, follow https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html to update your machine to the latest GPU driver and  see if the problem resolves itself.

Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

 

note: normal suspect is video controll driver if integrted only, GPU driver if dedicated. Is that particular Intel Iris Xe graphics card a deficated GPU? Dell website indicates integrated.

First, thanks for responding. I am a techie but this is over my head. It appears that this integrated video card is not powerful enough to do the job, but I will patiently wait for your response to see if you agree. I have Dell's most expensive laptop. It should have a decent video card. Thanks again.

So, integrated video control, Intel Iris XE Graphics, driver version 30.0.101.1692

Released 4/2/2022, so not ancient. But, at least one newer one exists, perhaps two. You may want to update it.

 

Do not be surprised if your post gets merged onto an older posting on AI vs vs old drivers. The old driver is a common issue.

Same as others on thread - every time selecting Subject or Sky mask results in a Lightroom Crash. - "Something went Wrong' : send error screen.

This thread seems to have most of the info in, and is my top result for a Google search, so posting what fixed it for me.

 

Had a Ryzen 5 3500U-based Inspiron 5505 Dell laptop. Single 8GB 3200 DDR4 SO-DIMM.

 

Latest Lightroom Classic, Windows Updates, firmware, and tried with latest WHQL Adrenaline drivers and latest gaming release of Adrenaline drivers at time of posting.

 

Second time of using Sky Select would generate "Something went wrong" error.

 

Changing drivers didn't help. Going back to an earlier version of LRC introduced a different crash so I gave up almost immediately with that.

 

Disabling hardware acceleration in Perferences worked around it, in spite of suggestions that it wouldn't.

 

To fix it though, replacing the 1 x 8GB 3200 DDR4, with 2 x 8GB 2666 DDRR4 (for total of 16GB).

 

I don't know if it was an odd bug, a resource issue around memory bandwidth, or of total RAM / shared (V)RAM.

Hello,

 

I am experiencing this same error on mz updated Lightroom Classic.
I have tried several fixes without anz success. I have the error on all the photos I tried, I did update the drivers, still not working.

The issue is present on both the computers I use, a PC and a Laptop. They both have AMD Graphics, I feel that can somehow be linked to the issue, but I have no other PCs to try.

I use Lightroom also on my Mobile devices, and the masking feature works perfectly there.

I think this issue has to be fixed asap if you want to maintain a good customer care.

Anybody found an answer to LRC crashing when using 'Select/Subject' sky mask... that doesn't rely on the following? 

  • NVidia drivers upto date (happens with previous & older versions anyway)
  • Preferences reset
  • GPU disabled (1080Ti)
  • Windows 10 / 32 GB Ram / LRC 11.5

Amazing that Lightroom is now even less stable than the king of crashes MS Flight Sim šŸ™‚

I updated my Lightroom Classic a few days ago and ever since I have been having issues using the masking tool.  Every time I try to select the subject I get a pop-up error message that says "there was an expected error and your request could not be completed".  How can I solve this?  Thanks!

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

I am having the same problem as a lot of other people. I updated my driver and that seemed to take care of the problem for a while, but now when I start Lightroom the select subject will work once or twice and then I start getting the error again.

I had the same problem yesterday when my CCleaner advised a new driver update available for my graphic card RX  6800. With the latest driver in place both Lightroom and Photoshop could not detect the sky. I rolled back the driver to the previous one and waalah the sky could be detected by both LR and PS. Lesson I learnt - Adobe is not always keeping on par with latest driver updates. Hope this helps
