With the new update, when using Select Sky or Select Subject, i get an unexpected error message saying something went wrong and the request could not be completed.
With the latest LrD 7.0, LrClassic 13.0 and ACR 16.0 release, here is some additional workaround that you can try:
If you encounter GPU driver issues while using ML features in LrClassic/LrD/ACR, please try to update to the latest macOS version or if you are on a Windows machine, follow https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html to update your machine to the latest GPU driver and see if the problem resolves itself.

2. Please do as Adobe employee Simon Chen recommended above and post the entire contents of Help > System Info, so Adobe can see precisely what you're running.
3. Did you try to update the graphics driver following the instructions Simon posted?

Incidentally, despite what the above System Info from LrC states, do you actually have no GPU?
What is your computers make/model
Does it only have an integrated video control and no discrete GPU?
or does it have a GPU, if so, what make/model and driver version?

Can you please re-enable the adapter in Device Manager, restart LR, and copy/paste Help > System Info here again? The previous System Info isn't showing any GPU information (because it is disabled).

How did you determine that? The Intel download center shows the latest driver version as 30.0.100.9955, released 10/13/21:
The updated System Info that you'll post will include the driver version currently installed, as seen by LR.

A little update...
I have tried to install whatever Intel drivers from the links given here, but it wouldn't update anything saying I was up to date, even though I wasn't apparently. Now I cannot override a computer that says no.
However, I have just installed Iobit Driver Booster and installed a couple of drivers (Intel Iris Graphics driver and Intel Management Engine interface driver).
Now after a couple of tests, Lightroom WAS able to select the subject without the error message. Hopefully it is sorted now.

Thanks for the update -- that will help others. And glad you got it resolved. This confirms that, at least for several of the people here, the issue is with old drivers for Intel chipsets.

The Intert Download Centre shows the following message:

@koosw74297766 , that's unfortunate. I've submitted a feature request that Select Subject and Select Sky use the CPU rather than the graphics processor (GPU) when the LR option Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor is Off:
That would allow you to use this feature even though you can't update your graphics drivers. Please add your constructive opinion to that request and click Upvote in the upper-right corner.

@koosw74297766 Interesting, according Windows Device Manager, you have two GPUs. One is the integrated Intel HD Graphcs 4000, one is Nvdia Quodro K1000. By disabling the integrated Intel Intel HD Graphcs 4000. It might mean you are now using the Nvdia Quodro K1000, which works for you.

@T5D61 If you have 4GB-6GB of RAM on your Android, you can go to LrM Android's Tech Preview Settings to opt in to try the new Select Subject/Select Sky. It might work without crash depending on the actual memory usage situation.

I use a laptop with a second screen on HDMI port.
I tried to disable my Intel HD Graphics 620 device: it worked, I can use sky and subject selection. Rather fast on my i5 with 4Gb RAM.
If I enable the devivce and disconnect the HDMO screen: it does not work.
It works if and only if I disable the graphics device.
Once the mask are created, I can work on both screens.

@ALagrange Once you disabled the Intel HD Graphics 620 device, I am wondering what GPU that Lightroom claims to use in Lightroom>Help>System Info... Try restart the machine after you disabled the Intel HD Graphics 620 device. Is it fallback to a secondary GPU or none.

After disabling the Intel HD Graphics 620, LR sees no Graphics device (but work). See here https://drive.google.com/
I tried to disable via LR only (both personalised or manual in performance / preferences). Does not work.
Only if Intel HD Graphics 620 (pilot 30.00.100.9955) is disabled in Windows settings, the functionality will work.

@ALagrange Yes, if you disable the integrated Intel GPU, the select subject and select sky would run inference on the CPU.
