I saved all my files, and my LR classic backups, on an external hard drive. The drive was then backed up to a cloud service. My current LR catalog is on my main computer drive.
The external hard drive recently failed, and I cannot access the files anymore. I am recovering them from the cloud service, and plan to rename the new external drive the same letter as the failed drive. I'm hoping that when I open LR Classic the next time (after the files are recovered), it will "see" the files all on the new drive.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of issue, and if so, does my plan make sense? Or is there something else I should do?

As long as the folder structure is exactly the same as on the old external drive, you should be fine.

If the restored folder hierarchy is identical, there's a good chance it will reconnect without a problem like Per Bentsen said.
If for some reason there is a problem, you can follow the steps in this link from The Lightroom Queen:

Thanks. I assume I should wait to upgrade to the new LR until I fix all this.
