Presets not in individual folders / Categories on Mac

Hi all,

For a few years now I have been using a PC for my editing, until recently when I purchased a MacBook Pro and iPad Pro, but for some reason on the MacBook Pro, all my purchased presets are only showing up in user presets after a manual import, and are all in one set.  This is extremely frustrating as when you have over a thousand presets, but have to search through them all for the one i want for a particular photo.

I really don’t understand what is going on here, on my PC Lightroom Classic shows The presets in individual folders, on my iPad Pro with Lightroom Mobile, that shows the presets all in their individual categories, but for some reason the MacBook Pro shows the presets as a single bunch, which isn’t ideal for my workflow.  I do a lot of editing with Lightroom in conjunction with Portrait Professional and so it is essential to use the MacBook when away from home.

ideally I would like my presets listed in classic, for example

Wedding

Boudoir

Beach

HQ shades

Split toning

is there anyone here that can point me in the right direction, or is it a case of installing Windows on my MacBook, just so my presets are in a more easily accessible fashion.

Many thanks

This has nothing to do with Macintosh, it's just a concidence that you noticed it now. The organisation of presets has changed. The groups in Lightroom are no longer folders on your hard disk. The group information is stored inside the preset itself now, and if you want to change this you do so in Lightroom itself, not on disk. If you don't like that, then there is a plugin that restores the old system: http://www.johnrellis.com/lightroom/fixpresets.htm

Thank you for that information and the link, I have got it installed and followed the instructions, but it is still showing all the user presets in alphabetical order, so will have a fiddle and see if I can get it to show groups, it is quite annoying that is have so many essential presets and that I am unable to just go into the needed group. Should it be boudoir, Wedding, Portrait, landscape, etC.  Hopefully I will get this fix working to neaten things up.

Thanks again.

I don't use that plugin myself, but AFAIK the plugin is supposed to do exactly what you want, so read the instructions carefully.
