Bernard

Hi @BernardBouree! Thank you for reaching out, and welcome back to the community! I'm sorry to hear about your issue. Is the import issue occurring with just your USB drive, or are other external storage devices affected as well? Could you please share a screen recording of your issue so that we can take a closer look at the problem? Please provide as much detail as possible and include every step that leads to the problem. Please show your Import Dialog box as well. You can share the screen recording via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or another public file-sharing platform.

In the meantime, here are a few things to try/check:

1) Optimize your catalog: Go to the File menu and select Optimize Catalog.

2) Go to the Folders panel (left side) > Right-click the single visible folder > Choose Show Parent Folder until you reach the Top-Level folder.

3) Make sure no filters are active in your Library panel. In the Grid view (D), press CTRL + L to turn off filters.

4) Right-click Lightroom shortcut > Run as Administrator. Re-open Import > Try importing from the USB drive.

5) Create a clean test catalog: File > New Catalog. Create a temporary catalog and attempt to import a known folder using the USB drive. If this works, your existing catalog might be corrupted.

Let us know how it goes!

Please use @ when mentioning my username so that I get notified as soon as possible.

Hi Noël

Thanks for the advises.

BernardBouree_0-1765920854468.png

You can see what LRC shows my picture.

But must of them are missing (43207).  When I synchronise the folder I get the full picture but in the Import page .

All my pictures images appears but when I click on Terminate, or Import (I don't need to import) or Cancel I'm back on the first image with quite all are hidden.

I will follow your other advises.

Thanks

Bernard

Thanks

Hi @BernardBouree,

Thanks for the screenshots and the clear explanation, that helps a lot. From what you’re describing, this appears to be a folder visibility/catalog state issue, rather than missing photos on disk. The images are there, but Lightroom Classic is not showing the full folder tree consistently.

Please try these steps in order (they’re quick and safe):

• Make sure no Library filters are active.

• Go to File > Optimize Catalog and let it complete, then restart Lightroom Classic.

• Test with a new empty catalog:

– File > New Catalog

– Import one known folder from D:\

– If everything displays correctly there, the issue is specific to your main Catalog.

About the USB drive appearing greyed out during Import:

• Try right-clicking Lightroom > Run as Administrator, then open Import again

• If possible, test a different USB port or cable to rule out Windows access issues

If the issue persists after these steps, please share:

• Whether the problem happens in a new test catalog

• Your System Info (Help > System Info, copy & paste)

• Confirmation of whether folders appear italic or normal in the Folders panel

We’ll take it from there once we have that info.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini

Most likely explanation is that you have accidentally opened the wrong catalog file and so the 45000 images are not in the Folder Panel.

Try opening each catalog file in File->Open Recent. If that doesn't recove the catalog with all 45000 images, then please use your operating system's search feature to search all files in all folders on all disks for files whose name ends with .LRCAT, the open each one in LrC until you find the catalog you want. If that doesn't work, restore a recent backup of your catalog file.

Hi thank you for your help.

It looks like the catalog file is corrupted as well as for the backup.

I was able to reload an older catalog where only the last pictures are missing.

I have used this catlogue and synchronise the folder and recovered these pictures.

But I may have alos a problem with the SSD size where my pictures are loaded.

I bought a new 2To SSD and intent to use it.

How should I proceed to migrate from my existing SSD to the new one.

I made a copy of all files but how should I reconnect all files?

Regards

Bernard
