I also updated to 14.2 and have basically lost everything!. Why would Adobe launch such a bugged and flawed latest version of Lightroom Classic. It uses so much energy my MacBook Pro goes into melt down and that spinning rainbow wheel.

@ruperts12617867 could you indicate what version of LrC you had installed prior to the update. Also indicate the version number of your macOS.

It was an older version 13.0 and my Mac OS is 15.3, the latest. I tried to reinstall the older version again but nothing is working. I am thinking of migrating to Capture One which I used to use. Their software reads ALL lightroom catalogs unlike Lightroom!. I backup everything on Backblaze so hopefully I can revert to my older Lightroom and stick with it forever.

Please be more specific and give us more and detailed informations about your issue and what have you done.
What do you mean with lost everything? Updating Lightroom doesn't delete any catalogs and so on.
Check if you're open the correct catalog.
Do you get error messages?
Moderator's note: I branched you posts into a new thread, because it seems there's a different problem than the creator has posted.

'By that do you mean that the cooling fans kick on hard and loud? LrC is a known resource pig, worse than high end games. Some will state things like "but game so and so behaves" Basically a not applicable comparison, sort of like lemons vs grapefruit. Some will compare PS vs LrC, that is even worse, more like lemons vs a grain of rice.
Point is LrC can ask a lot of a computer, and that laptop may be increasing cooling up for protection. Being a laptop, it may also be throttling down power to the CPU for protection, especially if on battery power.
Also, make sure the fan inlets are not clogged with dust.

This is all good – and kind feedback – thank you, but my issue still remains. Whilst I have all my back catalogs saved and intact 14.2 will only function by creating a new catalog thereby rendering useless my entire photo archive. I created some amazing custom profiles over the years that defines my photography. All now in accessible. If I try to upgrade an old catalog – and Lightroom requests a relaunch – I get the spinning rainbow!. Then force quit Lightroom, back to square one. Adobe should not be doing this to long term customers like me. I just downloaded Capture One, and it reads all my old Lightroom catalogs. Lightroom does not. Why would Adobe make such a retrograde step so as to eliminate customers.
