I have just switched to a Nikon Z8, but I have no idea if this is just a coincidence.  Now the "Auto" option is grayed out in Basic Develop panel on Lightroom Classic, regardless of the file type.  Any idea how to make it work again?  Thanks for your help!

Looks like the image is still loading. Does it ever finish loading?

Yes, the images are crystal clear and are finished loading.  Auto never un-grays itself.

While it appears no Basic Panel slider has been moved, Double click on TOne anyway, just to test. See if that un-do's an imaginary Auto Tone.
