Reference Photo not Loading

Hello,

LR has been acting up lately (last few months) and I was hoping someone here was knowledgable enough to help. It seems to boot up and work okay, except a couple quirks.

Problems:

  • Sometimes (not always) when I go into Develop mode the picture will just be a white screen. Restarting LR often fixes this until it happens again later.
  • Reference view photo will not load. See the attached screenshot. The right one works okay but the left one (reference photo) remains pixelated when I zoom in.
  • Bonus problem: The presets were not previewing when I hovered over them. Resetting all LR preferences to default seems to have fixed this - at least for now.

Things I've Tried:

  • Resetting all preferences to default
  • Messing with all settings in the 'Performance' tab of the Preferences menu
  • Computer has been fully restarted around 100 times since the issue began

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

By "Resetting all preferences to default" do you mean you accomplished the steps in the following link, or that you just went into preferences, and set each option to defaults?

while the preferences will get reset to defaults, that is not the primary purpose nor the normal nomenclature, Usually referred to as Reset preference file or restore preference file.

Your active photo is RAW, what about your Reference photo? Is it a smaller JPEG?

Everything is in RAW

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.
