I have several hundred edits that were flagged missing.
i am using windows 10
lightroom 6 stand alone version.
I have been editing several hundred hundred images and flagging my edits.
Last night I shut down Lightroom with auto back up .
This morning when I started Lightroom, it opened without any edits except ones I had done in an external editor and those were no longer flagged. Is there away to retrieve the edits?
It goes back to about three days ago. Images previous to that still show flags and edits. But the last three days edits with flags are gone. .
I did not fike anything or move anything, simply closed Lightroom for the night and after backup, shut down my computer.
Please help.

Sounds like perhaps you opened the wrong catalog file. Try File->Open Recent and open each catalog shown there until you find the one that contains your edits. If that doesn't work, restore a recent backup of your catalog file.

I had literally just opened the application after shutting it down last night. it should have opened in the exact location it was in at shut down , As it has done the previous million times I have opened it.
I had already tried what you above mentioned, prior to posting an inquiry. The only edits that showed up , were those edited in an external editor and those also were no longer flagged.

Try backing up the catalog again and check the 'Backup Folder' path as shown below. Use File> Open Catalog and navigate to that folder location. Try opening the latest backup catalog file that you made last night. You'll need to unzip the file before you can open it. See if the flags and edits are now visible.

For one of these photos where the edits are missing, show us a screen capture of the History panel in the Develop Module.

What do you mean by "Flagging My Edits"? Did you place a Pick Flag on the images you had Edited? Because by default any image that you apply any edits to gets an icon in the lower right hand corner like this.
"IF" the edits you did are actually gone then there is no way to retrieve them. By default LR stores edits only in the catalog file. If for some reason the catalog file has become corrupted and lost the records of edits and other changes made there is no way to retrieve them.
For this purpose I always have the option to Auto write changes to XMP turned on. with that option turned on all edits are also written into a XMP file so you could retrieve them.
But I suspect you have not opened the correct catalog.
