Lightroom Classic 14.1 1nd 14.1.1
MacOS 15.2
- Import images
- Select image(s)
- Press a number key to apply a star raing
- The UI (Library module) does not update to show the stars below the thumbnails
The ratings seem to be applied as I can filter based on the newly applied ratings even though she starts do not appear.
The stars will appear after closing and reopening Lightroom

Thanks for posting your experience. Agree very annoying. Would love to have this fixed so i can actually use the other improvements in recent releases.

Same disturbing issue here with star rating. Sometimes it works , sometimes it don't. LR 14.1.1, MacOS 13.7.1. Still no solution?

Same thing is happening intermittently with me as well. OSX 15.3 LRC 14.1.1
Also sometimes the "i" button is not bringing up the onscreen info about the image. Perhaps it's related?

If it would help anyone, im not sure this is really a temporary fix, but i had a feeling...
It seems to happen after you import a new series of images.
If you notice it happening, try this:
Delete the new imported images from LR.
Restart LR
Try rating on a previous edited folder. does it work again?
Then import again, should still be working.
It might have been other actions I have done that fixed it, but I think this is something "i felt" caused and fixed it...
Perhaps someone else can try these step

I tried this method but it did not work for me. The rating does update in Loupe View but not in Grid View in Library mode. Also keywords cannot be edited.

Close LrC and go into your catalog folder and delete the file ending in "HELPER.LRDATA" This file indexes folder counts, ratings, labels etc and it sometimes gets messed up. LrC will rebuild the file automatically. It has worked for me and several others having this issue. Seems like one of the latest updates has increased the occurance of this issue.

Thanks Bob, I tried this and it works for a little then reverts to the same issue.

Thanks Bob for the tip, didn't do it for me either, unfortunately. Both star rating and adding keywords are out of order, restarting LR helps. LR 14.3 MacOS 13.7.7

Same problem occured to me yesterday, right in the middle of editing. I didn't do anything differently, it was just out of the blue. Version 14.4, MacOS 15.5

It seems to me that after doing an import (some people said elsewhere it has to be creating DNGs, I don't know) ... then this issue occurs on all photos but also EXIF data won't update when clicking around on different photos *EITHER*
The Adobe Response that they "cannot reproduce" is not acceptable - I think we need these "community forum" people to stop gatekeeping customer service, QA, and the dev team.

Totally agree. How can it not be a bug if multiple users are having the issue. I've used Lightroom since the beginning and now since v14 its significantly impacting my workflow. I've updated versions, used the delete help file solution, which isn't a solution because the problem re-emerges. That in itself suggests there is an issue there.

Now I have a new issue regarding this particular catalog: all indicators from the photos in the filmstrip are gone - icons for appplied cropping, applied adjustments icon... what is causing this? It's not the size of the thumbnails. All of this is starting to make my editing really difficult.

Btw "Show badges" option from Preferences is selected, as well as "show ratings"
