I'm new to Lightroom Classic CC, and need help on something that might be extremely easy for some of you.

I'm trying to get out of this screen (#1):

To get back to this screen (#2):

Screen #2 appears when I click out of the app, but when I click back in, Screen #1 shows again.

It's driving me nuts! I've different screen modes and going through all the different Modules under Window.

It seems you are in the preview mode but there are no photos and nothing to play. Try pressing G to return to the Library grid to import photos.

If you are still stuck try pressing Cmd+Q to quit the application then re-launch.

I've tried quitting and relaunching as well as all the different "view" or "screenmode" shortcuts, and it won't cooperate! Grrrr

Try resetting Lightroom. When starting Lightroom hold Cmd+Alt+Shift and it will ask you if you want to reset your preferences.

This should help.

I have seen this happen numerous times and it's always been happening on a Mac (never happened on PC) so it seems like a bug.

What seems to always make it work is quitting Lightroom (Lightroom CC-> Quit) and opening it again. This always worked.
