hello everybody,
I‘m looking for a way to backup/sync raw files from my Lightroom Desktop CC to the cloud so I can have them (the actual original file, not just the Smart Preview”) on Lightroom CC (especially mobile).
Right now I
- Create a collection in Lightroom Desktop and enable syncing with mobile.
- Drag and drop the picture I want to be able to edit on mobile onto that collection and several seconds later it shows up in my mobile Lightroom CC but it does AS SMART PREVIEW IN BOTH LOCAL AND CLOUD locations.
I’ve already disabled the “Only work with smart previews” option in Lightroom CC (mobile) but that doesn’t seem to be enough.
Actually the only way I seem to succed is using Lightroom CC on my desktop computer instead of Lightroom Desktop CC, but they’re far from being the same thing and I want to be working with the true desktop version
Does anyone know a workaround for this?
Thanks
Antonio
There are a couple of way to get your raw original file in the cloud. You can do this via Lightroom CC Mobile/Desktop and Lr Web.
Lightroom Classic (former known as Lightroom CC) only uploads smart previews only.
Hope this answers your questions.

I just stumbled over the same issue, I want to have the raw files in the Cloud not just the smart preview. The only way I figured out how this would work is to import the Raw Files on my iPad and let them sync then to my Desktop Lightroom CC. The other way to import on Desktop I have just the smart previews on my iPad and in the Cloud.
So ya, the only way to prevent this seems to import the Files on Mobile and then let them sync, but with a phone and the limited memory its kind of a hassle. On the iPad this way is o.kish.
That is really inconvenient, since sometimes on the go, I want publish the full file, wich is impossible with just the smart previews.

Another limitation hampering to unlimited extent the usefulness of your platform. Disappointing.

The reality is that if you want to be working with full-sized images in the cloud they need to be imported or downloaded using Lightroom CC. Then you can work with them using the desktop version of Lightroom CC as well as the mobile versions. That's what Lightroom CC is designed for. Lightroom Classic CC will then have the capability of accessing those images and you can edit them using either program. But don't expect full synchronization between the two programs because it isn't there yet.
Lightroom Classic CC is specifically designed to be a desktop application with master images stored locally. Lightroom CC is specifically designed to be a cloud application for people who are on the move and have different needs. As a user, you have to decide which one best serves your needs.

o.k. thanks I almost forget about this thread. Now that Lightroom CC and Lightroom Mobile can sync presets and get all the other good stuff from Lightroom Classic I am about to switch complete onto it. Its way faster anways, so good one Adobe
