I normally have LrC set with a Raw Default based on my camera (Sony A7rV). This does a few things like set my preferred sharpening, some basic exposure settings, etc. This is all fine when I use my camera normally, i.e., take pictures and import them.
But, sometimes I use tethering when I use the camera for scanning negatives for further processing with Negative Lab Pro. It's about the most efficient workflow. In that case, I don't want this preset/default applied. There is no apparent way to turn that off or apply a different preset during tether like I can do with Import. Or am I missing something? Do I really need to go to preferences and turn off specific camera raw defaults and make Global a different preset that zeroes out nearly everything? It would seem better if the tethering window had a way to override that.

That preset is your camera default setting. Lightroom applies it to all incoming raw photos from that camera. There is no option to turn that off for photos that are incoming through tethering, because normally that would not make any sense. What you could do is create a 'zero all' preset and apply that to all these images. That is a one-click solution. Another option is to disable the camera default, and apply the default preset in the import dialog for normally imported images.

Fairly simple! And I think you are missing the Preset option in the tether dialog.
1) Create any 'Reset' Preset -
You can zero out all develop adjustments, choose a profile you want (for a camera), etc.
2) Select your Tether capture and choose your 'Reset' Preset in the camera Tether dialog.

Thanks Rob. As I never use tethering I wasn't sure if you could use a zero all preset in its dialog, but that is indeed easier than use it after the images have been imported.

Thanks. I thought that must exist. My assumption was having that set to "None" should have overridden the Raw Default. I do have that zero preset created already, and that works..
