Unable to drag image to collection

No matter what I do, cannot drag drop a photo into a collecttion within Library mode

I've been using KEYWORDS but then cannot change Keyword into a collection.

This looks so easy on any YouTube video but not for me

Are you clicking on the image itself and not the box around the image? That's how it works.

Are you sure you are not trying to drag and drop a photo onto a smart collection? That is not possible. A smart collection populates itself based on criteria.

Thanks again

Here is a screen shot

I created ‘Collection” Hiking.

I click on a photo ( 26 P1010036 ) in its centre, drag to Hiking, and it pops back to its original position but does not populate Hiking

There is no screenshot. You can't post a screenshot if you use email to post on the forum. You need to visit the forum with a web browser. Embed images using this button IMG_2794.jpeg, do not attach them.

Another thought: maybe you try to drag the image onto a collection set rather than a collection?

Whenever Lightroom Classic starts doing strange things, it a good idea to reset the preferences.
