Have been using LR for many years (LR Classic CC). I have my catalog on a Drobo (again, have had for many years).
Recently changed the name of the catalog to LR MASTER CAT (per Julieanne Kost instructions), then merged the catalog from another computer into the LR MASTER CAT.
Have not been able to import photos to my Master Catalog since. I use LR for my business so need this issue resolve quickly please!
Help?

Hi Larry,
What are you trying, in terms of where you're importing from, copying or adding, etc, and what do you see / what happens?

Here is a screenshot of the message that comes up. Yes, I went in and made sure the read/write permissions are on.

Do you have a new camera, that Lightroom doesn't yet support?
Otherwise, what happens if you copy the photos from the memory card to somewhere on your computer and then import from there?

I have a Nikon D750 - have imported thousands of images from it.
Yes, I have copied from SD card to my HD and tried importing from there - nada

Also - the images DO import into a different LR catalog, just not my main catalog.

Have you recently updated your OS? What version are you running? 10.13.5 is the most current version of High Sierra.
Are there any other issues with your Master Catalog? Can you edit?

I think there is probably some option chosen in Import that is not chosen in the default for your other catalog. Do you have Make a Second Copy checked and if so, is that accessible with read/write permissions accessible?
If not, I'd be interested in seeing a screenshot of the Import dialog in the catalog with the issue and the one without, importing the exact same files.
If we can't sort it out, then perhaps if you call Customer Service they can work through it hands-on.

How/where do I see that and make changes?

Do you have a backup of your master catalog from before you merged?
Can you upload a screen shot of the folder where your .lrcat file is located?
Have you tried moving your master lr cat file to your internal drive and then importing?

Is this folder located on your Drobo?
The date format on the name of the folder indicates that you have renamed a backed up catalog as your master. Was that your intention?
Please note the Lr catalog won't work on a network drive. You can store your photos anywhere. And you can also have it on an external hard drive but it won't work on a network drive.
The catalog works best and will be the most responsive when it is on your internal drive. This folder (except the backup folder in it) needs to be moved to your internal drive. Adobe installs Lr in your Pictures folder by default.

I have tried importing direct from my SD card. Also I've downloaded the images from the SD card to a file on my DROBO. Tried importing to LR from both sources to no avail.

Carefully check the options in the import screen. You have probably by accident set it to import to a location where you have no write permissions so make 100% sure that it is set to the correct location for new imports. This happens very easily. If everything is set correctly, reset Lightroom's preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/ It seems like voodoo but it helps resolve issues such as this quite often.
If this is not the problem, make sure your Drobo drivers and software are updated. I had random issues with my drobo after my computer woke from sleep not being writeable. Only solution was to unmount and remount or rebooting the entire computer. It seems to have been fixed in more recent firmware but it was very annoying.

OK - First of all thanks for the willingness of y'all to help! Your input and suggestions have been encouraging! This has been a trying experience but I think I finally got it solved.
I went in and had to change the permissions for every folder to 'read and write' all the way from the actual hard drive down to/through each subsequent folder finally arriving at the LR folder and each file included. Not a huge thing but just annoying. Then I went ahead and reset the LR permissions per jao vdl.
So far, so good. Thanks again everyone! Whew! Importing a job now . . . . .
