The album is created in facebook, but I am unable to publish any photos to it. Publishing to already existing albums works just fine. This is lightroom 4.4 on windows 7.

Doesn't work for me either. Same error message. Lightroom 4.4 + Mac OS X. When I try to edit Facebook settings from Lightroom, I get another error message stating Lightroom couldn't get my Facebook information. I wonder if Facebook changed their API?

Make that +1 more.... still frustrated that the last update broke my previous Collections. Now I can't publish new ones?
Hey ADOBE... how about making nice with the Facebook API and getting this resolved? Pretty please? Thanks.

This (Facebook issue caused by the "upgrade" to v4.4) has been a tremendous disappointment for me. Do a search for other threads that mention this. I am hoping that v5.0 fixes that... whenever it is released to us mere mortals.

Found a work-around, but it's a bit involved, and probably voids the warranty. If you edit the lightroom catalog using an sqlite editor (I used http://sqliteman.com/) you can manually link the lightroom published collection with the facebook album id (this is the part that is currently failing to happen automatically).
1. Get the facebook album id from the url.
For example, if the url for your album is https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10200618277313178.1073741833.1047164390&type=1&l=ec84f7cc8... then the album id will be 10200618277313178
2. Update the published collection table with this album id:
update aglibrarypublishedcollection set remoteCollectionId = '10200618277313178', publishedUrl='https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10200618277313178.1073741833.1047164390&type=1&l=ec84f7cc8...' where name = 'Ocean City June 2013';
After that, you will be able to publish photos in this collection. Note, this will have to be done for *every* new collection that has this problem, until Adobe fixes their facebook plugin. It does *not* have to be done every time you want to publish additional photos in an already fixed collection.
Hope this helps.

I'm having the same kind of problems, but LR reports that it cannot retrieve album information. I cannot create new collections, I can't edit current collections, publish new images to current collections etc! (Album list is empty!!!)
This started happening yesterday and has been working with LR 4.4 with no problems 'til that time, which, as you know, is the day ater the dreaded FB Tuesday update.
As a side note JF's facebook plugin still works! But I believe there must be some change to FB API that LR just can't handle!
P.S. It doesn't work in LR 5 beta either!

My solution is to create a new collection each time I want to post to Facebook.
1. Right click on the Facebook Service and choose "Edit settings..."
2. Click on the "Plug-in Manager..." button.
3. Highlight "Facebook" in right-hand column and click on "Plug-in Author Tools." Click on "Reload Plug-in." Click on "Done."
4. Fill in "Description." Click on "Authorize on Facebook." Click on "OK." (If Internet Explorer throws up a Security message, just OK it.)
5. At "After authorizing with the web browser, continue here...," click "Done."
6. Click on "Save." (Sometimes the "Save" button takes a long time to activate.)
7. You can now go to the Facerbook Service and create a collection.
If you are not all wore out after all that, you can now use the Facebook "Publish" feature again. (I can't confirm but suspect it would be for a one-time use and creating another collection would require jumping though the same hoops.)
Additional note: After "Saving," a strange message pops up stating "You have changed the settings for this publish connection. Do you want to mark all [212] photos in this connection to be re-published, or leave them as they are now." I have no clue what that means so I opt for the (I hope) safest option, "Leave As-Is."

Thanks @RonBoyd, but that does not work, already tried! (After waiting for 30mins for the Save button to become active, which it never did, I gave up)
Problem is it cant authorise with fb or return an album list, even if you try to create a new album, it is not returned by facebook. As said, this has happened after an infamous Facebook Tuesday (4th June) night update.
This has worked, although not flawlessly, for months and only stopped working on Wed 5 June 2013 and others have reported the same problem on the sme day!
It's facebook that has changed and the LR plugin can no longer retrieve authorisation or album lists to update!

This seems more like something from the Facebook side than Adobe. Perhaps there was an authentication/cert change for the Facebook API, and Abobe isn't handling the error gracefully?
Hopefull this will be resolved soon - It's rather nice sharing the photos on Facebook after all without exporting JPG's going through the FB interface. (which is always easiest workaround while the issue investigated).
Still, very frustrating nonetheless.

macalif, you are correct, the "Save" button now no longer activates. And the Colllection (album?) I created an hour ago is inoperative also. Very disappointing.
(Perhaps, Adobe is doing this just to "prove" how much better the new CC marketing effort will be for us peons -- they could easily (and quickly) take of this IF they didn't have to devote all those resources toward finalizing that major upgrade. In other words, I am unwilling to lay all of this on Facebook's doorstep.)

I have reported this as a bug
I think the more people that tag this as they have the same problem the quicker someone "might" look at it.

Thanks everyone! I've been driving myself mad trying to get Facebook publish to work again thinking it was because I just migrated lightroom and my catalog to a new PC. It's heartening to find that it's a newly cropped up bug and not something I did migrating. Hopefully they will get this fixed soon, until then I'm going to hide the plugin. I'll tag the bug report.

One other note: to work around the problem I set up a "facebook" hardrive publishing plugin folder with similar settings and I manually upload from there until this gets fixed.

Ron,
Above the facebook icon is a hard drive one, you can right click it and select "create" and add a new folder to the Hard drive publishing plugin (if you haven't set it up yet at all you will need to do so. ) I have set up a drive publish button for "lightroom output" "USB publish" and now "Facebook" .

+1 😐
Mac OS 10.8.3, LR 4.4.
Was working perfectly fine till June 4th. June 5th I didn't post anything. June 6th onwards kapoot! All dates in Indian Standard Time. I am more or less convinced Facebook has broken/changed something on their end. Did they intimate Adobe in advance and Adobe has been sleeping on it, I don't know!!!
But yes, damned irritating.

Adobe's complete and total lack of response to the issue IS a bit disconcerting...
You'd think they'd at least get off their collective behinds and say "we are aware of this issue and actively working on it..."
Wouldn't you...?
I guess it's not a workday in India yet...?
