Updating from LR 6.13 to 6.14

Explorer ,
Mar 08, 2018 Mar 08, 2018

Hi,

I am not able to update my LR 6.13 to LR 6.14.

The cloud app does not offer the option for updating; it seems that it thinks the program is up to date.

I have also tried to apply the 6.14 patch that I got from the adobe site directly, which did not work.

It gave me the error message: 'Update Failed. This patch is not applicable for you. Please check for updated from Help Menu in your product to see list of latest updates available. If the problem persist, contact Customer support for further assistance'.

I believe this is related to the reported issue here.

Is there any other solution to that besides deleting everything related to Adobe and reinstalling from scratch?

Also, I tried to reinstall the cloud app, but it will not de-install, as it says that I have programs that depend on it.

However; I do not have LR CC or LR Classic, only LR6.13.

Is there any way I can force the de-installation of the cloud app to try a new install of it?

Thanks,

Adrian

Do you have a subscription to any other CC apps?

Open the CC DTA and go to the Apps tab then click on Installed Apps.

That will show you if there are any.

If there are and you don't have a subscription click the little arrow to the right of what I show as Open and there should be a Uninstall link there. Uninstall any that you don't have a subscription. If LR 2015 is listed don't uninstall that.

You might also have to Sign Out of the CC DTA. Which might sign you out of LR 6 but the next time you start LR it will show as a trial and all you have to do is Sign In and enter the serial number for LR 6.

Hmm; why does it show me LR Classic as installed, but ready for update?

The same for Acrobat DC. I once had a trial for Acrobat DC, and now just deinstalled it to clean up.

But it still shows as installed software (in blue with saying "update".)

I am giving up .

I will wait until the next update of the cloud app. Maybe then, for what ever mysterious reasons it will offer me to update my LR. I mean, it always worked until now. So maybe it will again?

Well actually LR CC 2015 is installed. LR 6 and 2015 are exactly the same program. Same Downloaded files, Same Files get installed on your computer.

The difference comes from what type of Adobe ID you use to Sign In with.

If the ID has a Subscription the program is reported as 2015.

If the ID has no subscription then it asks for a serial number and reports it is LR 6.

OK; your last comment might actually help to solve the problem. Please, please stand by me.

As mentioned above I also have LR installed on my laptop, where the update worked.

However, now this is the clue:

Situation on laptop (with 6.14):

When I am within LR and I log out from my account, nothing much happens.

I can restart LR and it works without being logged in to the Adobe account.

Situation on my desktop (with the problematic 6.13):

When I try to log out from within LR, it says that I can do that, but that I will need to resign again the next time.

If I close and restart then again, then I have the option to either run in trial mode, or to licence the product, which I can do by re-entering my licence number.

Does this information help anyhow?

Also; the difference might come from the following:

Originally, when LR6 came out, I installed the trial version, and then licensed it probably some days later.

Not sure, if this was the same for the laptop, where now everything works fine,

OK; verified it again.

I can not run LR on the problematic machine when not signed in to my Adobe account.

When I try to log-out, the software is being deactivated.

Well with the notebook, and basically any properly functioning install of of LR 6, if you Log out of the app, which you should not do as there is no reason to Log Out, the next time you start LR 6 it should ask you to Log In and then ask you enter your serial number again.

The Log Out option is so you can disassociate that install of LR on that computer so you can then Log In on some other computer. Basically you can have LR installed on many computers but only be logged in on 2 of them at any one time.

Here is what you need to do.

On the computer that can't install the update.

You need to UNINSTALL Everything, LR and the CC DTA. Then from the link I provided install the Base program and then the 6.14 update.

Do NOT reinstall the CC DTA.

If you don't want to do that then just stop worrying about it.

All the best to you.

LATEST

Hmm. So how do you explain that on the machine, where I actually could update, I do not need to be signed in, and it still works?

Right the Cloud App, the CC DTA, should show you any updates if you are using the perpetual license version LR 6.

Go to this page and download the Update LR 6.14.

Download Photoshop Lightroom
