Volume does not support trash issue - Mac

Community Beginner ,
Oct 22, 2025 Oct 22, 2025

Hey all, I have just tried deleting some files off my Mac and keep getting this pop up saying about Volume does not support trash.

Working perfectly few days ago where it would put them in the trash bin on my Mac,

I know I probably won't want them photos anyway but I don't understand the change in behaviour.

Any ideas?

I am running the latest version of OSX and LRC.

Hey, @ayeoman84. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I'll move your post to the discussion for now.

Have you recently updated macOS or Lightroom Classic? Please check this conversation with other users reporting similar behavior after changes to the operating system: https://adobe.ly/47spjTk

You can follow the steps here to make sure Lightroom has the required permissions on the macOS: https://adobe.ly/49bOA6w;

I am also experiencing this issue on macOS 26.

I have tested this with a new library and new masters directory stored locally on my Mac's internal SSD. For additional troubleshooting, I 777'd the permissions for all relevant directories and provided LRC full disk access.

This behaviour is new with macOS 26.

Environment details:

  • LR Classic version: 14.5.1 [ 202508231203-c2638d01 ]
  • Camera RAW version: 17.5 [ 2318 ]
  • macOS version: 26.0.1 (25A362)
  • Computer: 14" MacBook Pro - M2 Pro 16GB memory
  • Library and masters on APFS formatted internal SSD.
  • Library folders and masters folders have 777 permissions.
