What happened to Importing in LRC v10.0?

Yesterday I could import 1000 wedding photos into a catalog with minimal preview in under a min. Then LRC auto-updated to v10.0 and today importing 100 photos takes close to ten minutes. To make matters worse LRC gets all locked up during imports making it completely unusable for the duration of these long imports. Please get imports working again, it's so basic.

thanks!

Mac or Windows? Which version of the OS?

What are your hardware specs?

Using a card reader or directly connecting the camera?

No memory cards involved. I add to lightroom straight from my hard drives after culling in photo mechanic.

You might want to check to see if there are hardware malfunctions in your card reader and/or camera card and/or connecting cable. This is often the cause of slow imports or imports freezing.

There are unfortunately no card readers involved. I do my file handling with photo mechanic and only import what I need to edit. Here are my specs:

2019 iMac 27in w/ Catalina 10.15.5

3.7 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5

40 GB ram

Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB

Try resetting Lightroom Classic preference file as described in method 1 at https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

Although too late now, I recommend disabling the application auto update feature in the Creative Cloud App (sse below screenshot)

Thanks. I do love the new color grading feature though so I would have probably updated anyways. Is anyone else facing slow imports when adding photos to a catalog from hard drives?
