Bit hard to know what to ask for in Lightroom 7 when 6 is not out yet....

But quite happy to lock this...

Who started the thread has no relevance to the request. The alternative is to have the thread locked.

All i'm saying is that if anybody (which I don't believe they have) has the right to dictate the direction then it would be the person who started it.

I would be confident that .DNG will last though you can always export to 16 bit tiff for future proofing.

Everything about Creative Cloud is great except for how the apps stop working if you stop subscribing. I'll never go along with that. I wouldn't even if it were free for the whole suite.

I guess most hobbyists and consumers already know about CC and have rejected it?

Pretty much everyone I know has jumped all over Lr and Photoshop for - note - £8.78 a month.

And when it costs £28.78 a month ..... at Adobe's whim?   Nothing to stop them doing so when you are trapped ... as indeed you are.  Never known a money centric multi-national to not lever a maximum profit when available ..... they would be nuts not to!

Of course us long-term Adobe users already owned many versions of Photoshop and Creative Suites anyway (I have Photoshop 3 (and I mean 3 not CS3) to CS6 on my shelf now - lol .

CC is for the noobs and commercial people.

Which are you?

Sorry but Keith is not correct - $9.99 is £5.88 (rounded up) plus vat = £7.06  where does £8.78 come from other than out of an Adobe marketters head or the enormous lets rip of United Kingdom brigade.

What never fails to amaze me in here is how many 'so called experts' are miserable Adobe Apologists and bullies to new people.  You (very) small people should be ashamed!   Do you all think you are artists (with an artists temperment) rather than the artisans you are?

Now Adobe has finally released their website changes has anyone in here attempted to get past the creative cloud to buy stand-alone products (those that still exist)?  It is even more befuddled and obscured than before(deliberate).

Before any child in here posts the link (note the childish behaviour in here), yes it can be found.

This forum really is just an Adobe mouthpiece dominated by childish bullies.  Apologies to those that truly try to help and are genuinely critical.  You are the stuff of forums.  I really do wonder how this site came to be in the state?  I suggest (to Adobe) a rebuild including of personalities.

The UK price (£8.78)  is inclusive of tax, the US price of S9.99 (£5.88 at 1.7 $ to the £) is exclusive of sales taxes that vary on a jurisdiction to jurisdiction basis

Sales taxes in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Still agree the with general sentiment however,  that we are paying more for the same product here in the UK.

Don't pander to him - that only became his point when he realised he was just plain wrong about what the UK price actually is.

He's moved more goalposts around than the Brazil Football Federation in the run-up to the World Cup...

Do get as sick of being wrong all the time, as we get sick of hearing your ridiculous, clueless whining?

I'm in the UK, and I use the £8.78 deal! Shock horror! I wrote what I wrote because I know what I'm talking about! (You should try that some time - seriously, it's great).

Maybe a bit more using whatever it is that keeps your ears apart, and a bit less looking for conspiracy theories, and maybe you'll live up to the first part of your screen name a bit less, eh?

Oh - and let's be clear: knowing what we're talking about about (and pointing out the numerous occasions when it's obvious that you don't) doesn't make anyone here Adobe fanboys. Or apologists. Or childish. Or (are you five?) bullies: it just makes us demonstrably better-informed than you. (Maybe that makes us "experts" - in which case you must be surrounded by them).

Or is this how you deal with people telling you that you're wrong again? Calling them playground names?

Now that's infantile. As trolls usually are.

Maybe a picture will help...

That is the published price for sale in the UK. I don't work for Adobe or defend their business practices, neither did I say the price difference is fair and reasonable. Your complaints would be better served here:

I started to watch tonights presentation but the style really makes me gag and turn-off so quickly.  Very reminiscent of modern money-based religious evangelical shows.  I do however await any useful announcements.

Lightroom 5.5 was released, but no sign of LR6 for now.

Does "indefinitely" mean "about a year" where you're from?

Means quite a lot longer here...

Well, if you want to get technical, here's the definition of “indefinite”:

     indefinite |inˈdefənit|

     adjective

lasting for an unknown or unstated length of time: they may face indefinite detention.

     • not clearly expressed or defined; vague: their status remains indefinite.

In other words, by using the word “indefinite,” Adobe is being deliberately vague. It’s a weasel word.

OK, I'll play...

"Indefinite" in its common usage means:

"being or seeming to be without limits"

and synonyms include:

"boundless", "endless", "unlimited", "unfounded", "illimitable"...

If Adobe had already decided that Lr 6 was going to be subscription-only within (say) a year, that decision would already have been made before Tom Hogarty went to press with the word indefinitely (which was as recently as last month):

"Q. Will Lightroom become a subscription only offering after Lightroom 5?

A. Future versions of Lightroom will be made available via traditional perpetual licenses indefinitely."

In other words, he would knowingly and demonstrably be making a liar of himself and of Adobe, because nobody uses the word "indefinite" if they know it means "within a year", which by definition is a definite (if not precise) timescale.

Are you calling Tom a liar?

And are you seriously suggesting that Adobe is too stupid to realise that the flak generated by simply saying "yes, Lr 6 will be CC only" would be nothing in comparison to the sh*tstorm they'd generate by pulling a stunt like this?

Pleased to hear that Tom Hogarty has stated that "Future versions of Lightroom will be made available via traditional perpetual licenses indefinitely." as recently as last month.

The general speculation on the web now appears to be that Lightroom 6 will be announced today, but it won't officially be released as either a subscription or perpetual licensed product until latter in the summer.
