When I export to video the image quality is circa 1995 (I have set it to high quailty).
I also can not get my 4:3 image to occupy max space as when I select Zoom to Fill Frame, my shots in Portrait oriengtation get croped into Landscape.
So what is the vaule to being able to add music to something of such inferiour image quality.
I went diretly to Adobe who told me Lightroom is a photo editing software and its slideshow capabiliters are limited.
So, back to my question - what value is there in the Slideshow module?

Many users (most?) find Slideshow of limited usefulness these days. Back when the Lightroom Ecosystem (Cloud) was announced (at the time of LR Classic 7), Adobe said they would focus their LR Classic efforts on Develop and image quality, and they've been true to their word. The Map, Book, Slideshow, and Web modules have received no love.
You're probably better off getting a third-party solution for making video slideshows.
"image quality is circa 1995 (I have set it to high quality)."
The Any Video Preset plugin adds presets for exporting videos and slideshows in 2K and 4K resolutions, 30 and 60 frames per second, landscape and portrait. You can also add your own presets.

One that I have used (Windows version) is PTE.. Very capable app that has all you need. Lots of features. (Not free)

I find the Lr-Classic module good for two things-
a) A simple way to project many images with some design to the screen page. An example: a Trade Show video presentation with ID and Logo on every screen page. I have done SSs ~400 images (no sound)
b) An impromptu slideshow of images in a LrC folder or Collection. When viewing in Grid view, simply presss [Ctrl/Cmd + Enter/Return]. Useful when showing library images to a friend, or even projected for a lecture presentation.

@Wayne377594158ki1 Take a look at the PTE-AV-Studio site link I gave earlier, there is a Mac Version. (Not just Windows if I misled.).
