Algorithm of Highlights and Shadow sliders in Lightroom

The results of local contrast adjustment in a picture when using Highlights and Shadows sliders in Lightroom really impress me. I am curious about the algorithm behind these two sliders.

Does anybody has any ideas about the algorithm behind the Highlights and Shadows sliders in Lightroom. Anyone is welcome to come here for discussion!

Maybe you're right. But I still hope someone can come here and discuss their opinion.

If it does involve trade secrets, I'm wondering if it is possible to have a formal business cooperation with Adobe.

I remember reading this Adobe Blog entry back in 2012 when these features were first introduced, and then trying to understand the linked scientific paper. I didn't get very far with the understanding bit, but I certainly was impressed. Have a try.
