I don't know how but I keep accidentally toggling in quick collection and then my image is gone. If I catch it quickly enough I can "undo" it but if not the image I have worked on is missing and I can't find it. I also use Lightroom classic to have others choose their favorite images while sitting with me. Usually using the quick collection and the star system. However I have had the same thing happen then and had images go missing and I have been unable to find them. I never use it intentionally and would prefer to just disable it if it is possible.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm not aware of any way to disable this. But if an image is in the Quick Collection, and you are in the Library Module, do not press letter B and do not click on the circle icon at the top right of the thumbnail.

If you're accidentally typing "B" and you want to disable the B shortcut, delete this line from the TranslatedStrings file:
"$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/Shared/AddToQuickCollection/Key=b"
See this article for details on editing that file: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/custom-keyboard-shortcuts/
See my reply below.

To disable the keyboard shortcut B, which toggles a photo's membership in the Quick Collection, add this line to the TranslatedStrings file:
"$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/Shared/AddToQuickCollection/Key="
or if you're running LR in a language other than English, change the existing AddToQuickCollection/Key line.
Or use the Any Shortcut plugin.
To disable the small circle badge in the upper-right corner of Library thumbnails that toggles a photo's membership in the Quick Collection, see @TansySue's response above.

It is possible to turn off Qick Collections (I find them a nuisance too) using Library View Options:
Right click any image > View Options > Grid View > go down to Cell Icon and un-tick Quick Collections Markers
