Could not write metadata. Unknown file I/O error. (1)

I have just bought a new 15" macbook pro (OS High Sierra 10.13.3). Installed all the latest updates of CC software.

I have my RAW files on an external Seagate hardrive which I 'add' to lightroom.

When I try to save edits to images I get this error: 'could not write metadata. Unknown file I/O error. (1)'

Sharing on hard drive folder is Read and Write for me as the user.

Help please!

Thank you.

Catherine

It won't allow me to change. Looks like it reverted back to NTFS format, so I need to reformat the drive to mac.

I assume I need to delete everything off to do that and then find a seagate link somewhere?

Thanks!

Yes the second one down, check the version of OS X you are running, is a driver so OS X can write to that drive.

No drive reverts to any format. Once you format it, either for OS X or Windows, it stay like that forever or until you re-format it in another format.

The one thing you don't want to do is format that drive as that will erase all the data on it.

All you have to do is download that drivers, install it restart your system and you should be good to go.

How is that external formatted?

Sounds like that external may be formatted NTFS and you used an Add-on program so OS X could write to NTFS formatted drives.

OS X can Rad from NTFS drives but it can't write to them natively.

Yes, for some reason it has changed and is not formatted 'Windows NT File System (NTFS)'

Hmm, do I need to delete everything to reformat it?

Thanks!
