Creating web galleries that allow captions to be writing in the browser.

I'm trying to figure out how to create a web gallery that will allow the viewer to create the caption.  I'd like to have control overt the interface and to have the caption field visible as soon as a thumbnail is clicked on.  Is there a way to do this?  I see that viewers can leave comments, but it's important to me that the information added remains embedded in the imagefile metadata.

I'm happy to use LRC, LR or Portfolio.  Or do I need an entirely different product all together?  If so, any suggestions?  Using LR would be great if I can keep the galleries synced locally.

Thanks for any help people can offer.
