File names changed in Lightroom catalog

HI. Can someone help me to solve the problem. I'm photo editor. Client (photographer) sent me the catalog. I edited images and returned them back, but the file names does not match so the edits can not be applied to the original files. Why the file names changed? How to fix this? Currently the file names are long with random numbers and letters.

It looks very like you've been working on smart previews (i.e. proxy files) rather than the originals. Are you absolutely sure that your cleint sent you the original files?
