I obviously made a mistake by using the Adobe Creative Cloud App on my Mac (macOS High Sierra). I have a standalone Lightroom 6 install and clicked update which installed Lightroom Classic CC and removed LR 6. It seems though that this is subscription only (this was not mentioned in the installer) and now I cannot open LR anymore as I do not have a subscription. LR 6.13 seems a separate update. So what to do now? Where would I find a LR 6.12/6.13 Full installer and how could I uninstall the Adobe CC App that brought me into this mess ...

I don't think LR6 is removed. Check your program folder.
You can download the 6.0 base installer and the update to 6.12 (6.13 once it is released on Oct. 26) from here: Download Photoshop Lightroom
You're right, LR Classic CC is subscription only.

OK. Lightroom 6 was uninstalled, I checked. So I will use the Adobe CC App to uninstall LR Classic CC , then I use the Uninstaller of the Adobe CC App to remove the app itself and then, after a restart, I will first install the base installer and then the update.

Hi Mountainview,
Please uninstall the Lightroom CC Classic from the machine, restart your machine and use the below link to download & install Lightroom 6 and update it to 6.12 version.

Thanks for the link! My installation of LR6 was also uninstalled and replaced with a trial version of LR Classic CC. And from what I read in several other forums, this seems to be the default behavior of the CC App.
I do understand that Adobe wants to sell their subscriptions, but forcing those onto the customers and automatically deleting a product that I bought and paid for? I am pretty sure that this is illegal in at least a few countries and it will certainly drive even more customers away.
But that never seemed to bother Adobe anyway.

I don't look forward having to uninstall LR CC and unearthing my LR6 license simply because Adobe want to force it my throat to switch to subscription. I just want the basic LR and now I have to give up my evening navigating out of this Adobe trap!!! Unconscionable greedy or lazy company!

Couldn't agree more, I clicked an 'Update' button which ended up meaning I did the same thing as you. If they'd put 'Upgrade' it wouldn't have looked quite as much like a deliberate trap. I bought a product (Lightroom 4) and an upgrade to it (Lightroom 6) and expect to be able to use it without out all of this unnecessary palaver. Very bad behavior Adobe.

It was by mistake - a bug and it has been fixed now.
Of course, you can continue to use your LR6 as expected.
Unfortunately, you have to reinstall it as described above already.

I just went through this BS too. Adobe says there is an update to Lightroom 6 available for download, so I updated it. What it doesn't tell you is that your license for Lightroom 6 is not valid for Lightroom Classic. Also the installer deletes Lightroom 6 off your computer.
You can re-download Lightroom 6 here: https://www.adobe.com/products/catalog.html?filters=cd_252Fphotography&page=2#
All your files will still be there, intact. If you are logged into your Adobe Creative Cloud account it will already know you have a licensed copy.

OK, so I have been through this pain and nonsense and have now got Lightroom 6.12 installed. Thank you all here for the pointers.
However, when I look in the Adobe Creative Cloud installer app > Installed Apps, there is no reference to Lightroom 6 but a reference to Lightroom Classic CC > Update, AND Lightroom CC (2015) > Start Trial, with the options of Buy now, view tutorial or uninstall. This seems to be suggesting I have Lightroom CC installed and set up to run as a trial, though there is no visibility of this as an installed programme as Lightroom is simply called 'Lightroom' and not Lightroom 6, or CC!
So the big question is if I select uninstall Lightroom CC (2015), will this remove Lightroom 6 (again!)? My guess is it will but it would be nice to know....
And if Lightroom 6 (as a description) is being abandoned, how will we NOT fall into the same trap again on future updates....whilst it is being supported, especially if there 6.13 update later this month?
What a shambles....

LR6/2015 are in fact the same application. Just different licencing. LR6 requires a serial number. LR2015 requires a subscription. That is how the different features are distinguished.
If you have re-installed LR CC2015, running as a trial, you simply need to convert it to the LR6 stand-alone perpetual licence. Follow these steps:
Launch Lightroom and go to the menu: Help >> Sign Out <your email address>
Quit Lightroom
Re-launch Lightroom and click the button “Sign In Now”
Click the button “License This Software”
Enter serial number & click Next
Lightroom will launch as LR6

The LR6.13 update is due on 26 October and will have new camera support including the Nikon D850.

Thanks, it is a pity the CC Updater didn't explain this so we wouldn't have this diversion, and also that that it was distinguished in the 'Installed Apps' instead of showing as an 'installed trial', i.e. it doesn't tell you it is also LR6!
A question that remains is, will the LR6.13 update actually update LR6.12 and remain a licenced product, or will it default to a subscription app and we go through this loop again???
Thx

I managed to get rid of the unexpected update and re-installed Lightroom 6. Now I'm on 6.0.
Adobe Creative Cloud gives me, again, the ability to update Lightroom Classic CC and Lightroom CC (2015), but it's my understanding that going through this update will see me get rid of Lightroom 6, again.
So, how do I upgrade to Lightroom 6.12 or 6.13, whatever the current version is?

Adobe Creative Cloud gives me, again,.....
You do not want or need anything related to Creative Cloud.
If you have the CC Desktop App then un-install it.
So, how do I upgrade to Lightroom 6.12 or 6.13, whatever the current version is?
Now I'm on 6.0. "Now I'm on 6.0"- good, do not un-install it.
Download and install the 'UPDATE" for v6.13 in this link. (Click the > to expand and scroll down)

Thanks. Appreciated. Works.
I was assuming that it would have been possible to update through Adobe CC.
So, does this mean that I can also safely uninstall Adobe Creative Cloud? I have no other Adobe apps besides Lightroom 6.

Correct- you do not need the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App.
(Your Serial Numbers MUST be preserved by you!)
You should be aware though that Lightroom 6 is the last version that will ever be available as "Stand-alone", so v6.13 may be the last Update you will ever get. There may be a v6.14 update released, but after 1st Jan 2018 you cannot buy Lr6 , and even the updates may disappear from the Download page.
If you want upgrades to Version 7 (aka Lightroom- Classic) and into the future, Lightroom is only available by a Creative Cloud subscription plan.

Thanks again. I feel decidedly less dirty with the CC app gone.
Yes, I'm aware Adobe has gone all-in on subscriptions. It's a pity, as at the current prices I'm less than keen to sign up and commit to a lifetime of sponsoring Adobe.

I've had the same problem. I downloaded the "update" for Lightroom (I have LR6) but only found out after the installation that it was Classic CC. LR6 was eliminated from my iMac. Managed to download 6.0 and uninstalled Classic CC.
All of my attempts to install the updates to 6.0 have failed and now I can no longer work with my RAW files from my Sony A7S II camera. I can't open these RAW files in Bridge CS6 or Photoshop CS6 any more either! I tried to update Bridge and PS too but that failed as well.
I am running High Sierra on my iMac. Is that the problem?
I do not want a subscription plan.
I've spent many hours already on Adobe's support phone line and the chat option with no solutions. The last helper told me the only option was to post to the forums. I've wasted an incredible amount of time on this.

After the Cleaner Tool has un-unstalled all Lightroom programs, do the reinstall as in Post#21 above-
1. Download and run the APLICATION INSTALLER,
2. Download and run the 6.14 UPDATE.
You will need your Serial Number for Version 6 (AND the Serial Number for any previous version if your v6 was an upgrade.)

I finally was able to update my LR 6.0 to a higher version so that I could open my RAW files.
I was hesitant to use the Cleaner Tool to uninstall all of my Adobe programs. I use Premiere Pro CC for my work and didn't want to risk anything for my many projects. I uninstalled LR 6, Adobe Creative Cloud, Camera RAW and Bridge CS6. I tried to uninstall old PSE programs but that failed. I reinstalled the programs, including Bridge CC 2018 (once I verified that no subscription was required). I installed Camera RAW 10 but that didn't change anything. I installed Camera RAW 9 and maybe that did the trick because I was able to update to LR 6.2 after that. I had been told by an Adobe support person that some later updates were buggy so I didn't want to go any higher after so many hours of trying to fix the problems.
In Cleaner Tool, PS CS6 was not listed, just "Photoshop Driver." I didn't know what that was so I didn't touch it or uninstall Photoshop CS6. My PS still won't update to deal with my RAW files but I rarely use PS and I can always convert a RAW file to DNG.
Thanks for the advice.

I would just like to help you understand a few facts (as I understand them)-
1) You use Photoshop CS6 (and Bridge CS6). This version of Ps can only use ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) up to ACR Version 9.1.1
2) Lightroom does not use Adobe Camera Raw. Trying to upgrade ACR (beyond 9.1.1) is pointless for you.
---(the Camera Raw processing software is embedded within the Lightroom program)
3) The version of Camera Raw should have no effect on your ability to upgrade Lightroom.
4) you should still be able to Upgrade Lightroom to v6.14 Download Photoshop Lightroom
5) Your camera Sony A7SII requires Lightroom v6.2 as a minimum to read your Sony raw files.
6) Your camera requires ACR 9.2 to open the raw files directly in PhotoshopCS6 (which you cannot do), BUT you can use Lightroom as the 'ACR' raw converter to use "Edit-In" Photoshop. Just select the "Render with Lightroom" when you send the file from Lr to Ps.
---Lightroom 6.14 has 'embedded' the ACR engine v10.1
7) considering all the above- you need only to update Lightroom (6.2 or above) and never need to convert Sony files to DNG, as Lightroom can 'Render' the Sony raw file for edit-in Photoshop.
