hi i was wondering if mixamo will be adding support for disjointed body part characters anytime soon or if there is an alternate way for this.

Adobe doesn't publicly discuss unreleased features or roadmaps for applications.
BUT
If your character is a simple biped with disconnected limbs, you could create a dummy rig that has connected body parts, then retarget your animation to your custom character.
It would be great to see your character that you're trying to target.

While you could use bvh for minecraft style characters, I would probably use a really basic rig. The number of joints/bones in the capture data won't give you the "blocky" style movement without a bunch of editing even after you've applied the mixamo rig.

Ran a quick test.
Made a cubedude... super bendy, but retargeting should get you to your disconnected parts.
just make sure that you have some "dummy" geometry connecting the gaps between sections of your mesh.

WOW - even easier.... if you look at the (*crappy) modeling hierarchy that I have in the test.
Because I left it out of the main hierarchy, it was super easy to delete those pieces once I downloaded the animation. The cubes are still twisting strangely, but a little weight map editing can correct that.
