Adobe Photoshop Elements 2025 Editor Does Not Load

Community Beginner ,
Sep 22, 2025 Sep 22, 2025

On 22 September 2025, I purchased an upgrade version to Adobe Photoshop Elements 2025 at a cost of £70.99, Order Number (PII removed by Moderator).
I downloaded and successfully installed the application.
However, when I run the application the Start Screen loads Ok, the Organizer also loads Ok, but the Photo Editor does not load.
Help would be appreciated as this is the element that I use the most.
I am running Windows 11 Pro fully up to date with Windows Update.

Any Help would be appreciated

I was in my local pub yesterday and was talking about the problem I was having with PSE2025 Editor on my Windows 11 Pro laptop.
A person in the pub overheard what I was saying and said that he did have the same problem and had solved it.
He told me to start my laptop in safe mode and then open PSE2025, then open the Organizer, close the Organiser and then open the Editor to see if it loads properly. If it does then close the Editor and close PSE2025.

Can you open it directly from the exe file?

Thanks for your reply,

In order to find out what is going on, I opened Windows Task Manager.

I then ran the Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor from the exe file.

In Task Manager, Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor appears as running in Background processes.

After about 5 mins Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor moves to running in Apps.
A message Scanning for plug-ins... then appears on the screen.

Then after about another 5 mins the Editor eventually loads.

Any ideas as to why the Editor takes so long to load?

I wonder if there is something in the organizer working in the background that is causing this?

@Greg_S.  can you help?

@PinguJohn1 , as Bob says, there are a number of possibilities that analysis in the background is interfering with opening the Editor.  So the first thing to do to see if a background process is delaying the opening of the Editor is go to the Organizer's Preferences and turn off all checkboxes under Media Analysis and Auto Sync.

You mention that you see a message scanning for plug-ins.  Do you have any plug-ins loaded?  Try holding the Shift key while loading the Editor.  You will be prompted to skip loading plug-ins.  Answer yes, and see if anything changes.

Has your older version catalog been converted to Elements 2025?  If you agreed to the conversion when you first launched the Organizer, that process can take a while and may interfere with launching the Editor.

How many media files do you have in the active Organizer catalog?  Did you use the Elements Web to upload photos to the Elements Cloud in either the old catalog or your new one?  If you select Synced Media from the Filter dropdown at the top of the grid, how many files are displayed in the grid?

Guess what, it did and so far it has worked OK.
Lets hope it continues.
Still no idea what was causing the problem.
