alt+mousewheel stops working in Photoshop Elements 2023

I recently switched from Photoshop Elements 10 to Photoshop Elements 2023 and I've come across a very annoying issue happening randomly when editing images: zooming with alt+mousewheel stops working.  I've never experienced this issue in Elements 10 (I'm on Windows 10).

I would work on an image, do some modifications then suddenly I can't zoom with the mousewheel anymore.

The only way I found to fix the issue is to manually type a zoom percentage in the zoom indicator in the lower left corner. That seems to reset something and alt+mousewheel starts working again.

This is a very frustrating issue, am I the only one experiencing it?

I haven't seen that yet, but will post back now that i know to look for it.

In the meantime and i don't know if your aware of this or not, in the pse 2023 editor you can go to Edit>Preferences>General and check Zoom with Scroll Wheel so you don't have to press Alt to zoom.

I don't think I have seen this reported before.  A few years back I did a survey of users I know who all said they preferred using the Zoom with Scroll Wheel option mentioned by Jeff.  That is always the first preference I change when installing a new version of Elements and I have never understood why it is not the default.  Using the default mouse wheel condition to scroll the image makes no sense to me, particularly since it requires additional key stroke maneuvers to place the image in each direction.  Using the spacebar to grab the image and move it around is far easier for me.  But to each his own.

If you prefer to use your current mouse behavior, you may want to try resetting the preferences.   Go to Edit>Preferences>General tab and click the Reset Preferences on next launch button.

I turned on the "Zoom with Scroll Wheel" option last week and haven't experienced the zoom problem since.

The only problem is that I keep pressing Alt out of habit! 🙂

Thanks for that workaround, it seems to work well!
