The software is the same.

The license is different in that you can not transfer or upgrade from a Student license, but you can from a standard license.

Agreed although the upgrading issue can be a bit involved.

You cannot upgrade from Student version to the next Student version. In fact, there is no Student upgrade license since the discounts for the Student version are so deep.

However, you can upgrade from a Student version to the next regular version. e.g. you can upgrade from PSE 15 Student version to PSE 2018 regular version.

Having said that, the price of a new full version (not an upgrade) is often cheaper than the upgrade so it pays to shop around.
